LE MORTE D'ARTHUR

by Sir Thomas Malory

According to Sister Agnes Somers in her description of the Holy Grail mural, “[Edwin Austin] Abbey took his theme from the Arthurian romances, probably from Malory’s Compilation (Le Morte d’Arthur) using only that part of the legends that dealt with the quest of the Sacred Vessel from which our Lord partook at the Last Supper” (All Her Ways, p. 131).

This text by Malory is also the basis of other artistic works including tapestries, paintings, and poetry.
